Hand Rejuvenation Enjoy Youthful, Attractive Hands Once More

The thin, delicate skin on the back of your hands are among the most exposed area of your body, so it probably comes as no surprise that the hands can betray our age even more quickly than the face. Aging hands generally suffer from two very distinct problems: constant sun exposure leads to sun spots, age spots, and other pigmentation irregularities, while loss of collagen leads to a bony, thin appearance with visible veins and tendons. The Virginia Institute of Plastic Surgery—with offices serving the Washington DC, Charlottesville, Richmond, and Northern Virginia areas—can help you address these issues, so you can enjoy youthful, supple hands.

The Ideal Hand Rejuvenation Candidate

Brothers and board-certified plastic surgeons Drs. Burton and Reps Sundin understand that maintaining truly beautiful hands means erasing sun damage while simultaneously replacing collagen lost through the natural aging process. If these issues sound familiar to you, you’re likely an ideal candidate for this procedure.

In order to address both these problems at their source, Drs. Sundin have developed a hand rejuvenation treatment that combines the healing energy of light with next-generation collagen-based dermal fillers. This non-surgical, minimally-invasive treatment can be completed in a simple, quick office visit without the need for anesthesia or recovery time.

Our Hand Rejuvenation Treatment Options

Our unique hand rejuvenation treatment utilizes a personally-tailored combination of powerful light-based energy—IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light—and the advanced collagen-based injectable Radiesse®.

Intense Pulsed Light

IPL, now considered the gold standard in the treatment of common skin irregularities caused by sun exposure, works by directing a series of precisely-calibrated, non-ablative (non-damaging) pulses of multi-wavelength light energy deep into the dermis, or inner layer of skin. While the outer layer of skin remains unaffected and cool (helped by the application of a cooling gel), the light energy heats the dermis and stimulates the skin to remodel existing collagen strands, while also building new collagen, to reduce pigmentation irregularities and create smooth, even skin on the back of the hands.

Radiesse

Radiesse is the only injectable dermal filler approved by the FDA for use on the hands. This advanced filler offers incredible short- and long-term benefits: By restoring natural collagen levels, wrinkles are filled in and the skin becomes visibly plumper, fuller, and smoother.

At the same time, Radiesse actually sparks the body’s natural production of new collagen strands, ensuring supple, soft, and youthful hands for up to a year.
